My Story
My “Scentsy” story began September of 2005. I moved to Boise. Everywhere I looked, I saw people with Scentsy vinyl on the back of their cars. I had never heard of Scentsy before and was not remotely interested in whatever that was. To tell you the truth, I thought it sounded kinda cheesy…a warmer that warms the wax with a light bulb... But, I love candles so finally in October 2009 (after 4 years of seeing these cars) I decided to find a consultant and see what this was all about. I went online and did some research and I’m telling you the minute I saw the product and how it worked I flipped! What a fantastic concept! Having a pretty warmer that warms the wax with a light bulb...no flame…no soot, no more hassles of burning candles.…I wanted one…who wouldn’t? So, I ordered a close-out warmer and one bar of Sugar Cookie (I really didn’t have the money to buy any “expensive” candles). I received my order in a couple of days. Before I even opened the box, I could smell it! I unpacked it, plugged it in, and popped in a cube. I took the empty box outside to the trash can. As I was walking back, the closer I got to the front door, I could smell the scent all the way outside…oooohhhhh…it was strong and yummy smelling…I’m sold.
With this product I KNEW it was going to be BIG….I wanted in!!! So,I found out what you had to do to become a sales representative. It was only $99 to sign up and I didn’t have to buy product in advance. You start off earning 20% of sales and once you reach $1000 total you earn 25% from that point on. I knew I wanted to do it. I didn't want to be an Assistant forever and I could use the extra income! I wanted to know more about the company before I committed.
I found that:
· Scentsy is a party plan company that would NOT be sold in retail stores.
· The products are high quality, handmade, and are guaranteed.
· Scentsy offers a FREE website for 3 months ($10/mo after that). That’s very reasonable. · Scentsy offers a FREE workstation where you place order, manage your customers, and keep up with your team performance. And it is really NICE. I don’t have to do a thing!
· You are only required to enter $200 in orders once every 3 months to stay active. Heck, I did that in one day!
· They send a newsletter every month to all my contacts/customers without me having to do a thing! Loved that!
· Scentsy was getting RAVE reviews from the direct selling industry and they were noted as being a very family oriented company. I liked that a lot.
So I signed up that day. Everything I needed to run this SIMPLE business came in my starter kit!
I scheduled my first home party. I was nervous, but it was so much fun! The party sales totaled almost $1,000. My hostess saw how easy it was and asked about joining! I told her about the opportunity and my “pay it forward” plan to give her the party that would pay herself back for her starter kit. It got her off to a great start and I had my second recruit!
My team continued growing and by July I had moved up 3 levels to Lead Consultant and had 11 people who had joined my team! I decided to attend convention. It was at convention where I really learned about the company and the owners, Orville and Heidi Thompson. I was VERY impressed. They really want to make this company the best it can be...and are doing it the right way. This event really solidified my feelings about Scentsy and being a part of the Scentsy family. I was so moved by some of the consultant's stories...normal people just like me….who were so successful in Scentsy they were doing things they never dreamt possible. Things like paying off their homes and cars. Helping their families and sending their children to college! I returned from Denver truly inspired!
